DSM Tests and Criteria
The DSM tests are segregated into two sets of test. The first set is based on 'CIBSE TM33: 2006 - Test for software accreditation and verification' and the vendors will need to refer to this document for more information. The tests cover aspects of the software calculation engine and assess the algorithm performance and compliance with published standards.
The validation process requires DSM software output to be produced in accordance with the format outline in CIBSE TM33 and other accompanying documents and should agree with reference outputs within the stated stringent error margins.
In the second set of tests, case models have been set-up, referred to as the Enhanced Test Models. This set of tests interrogates the software's modelling of the notional and reference buildings, checking against guidelines and specifications. The test criteria require that the DSM software achieves a close match (within a specified tolerance) of the actual building emulating the reference and notional building.
Software output required for submission and validation:
- TM33 results report
- BRUKL summary (*.pdf)
- EPC (*.pdf)
- A report summarising the following:
- Building emission rate (BER), Notional building emission rate (TER), and Reference building emission rate (in terms of annual kgCO2/m2)
- Monthly and annual fuel consumption for Actual, Notional building, and Reference building (separated into individual fuel types, electricity must exclude equipment)
- Monthly and annual energy demand for space heating, hot water system, space cooling, auxiliary energy, lighting, and equipment for Actual, Notional building, and Reference building.
Vendors will need to declare in the email during submission that they are satisfied and have ensured that their software is compliant with guidance and specification by meeting the required criteria.
